Hello to all Feilding Golf Club women's members.
My name is Jill Shirkey, and I am the recently appointed Ladies Club Captain. I am the result of a Feilding 'She Loves Golf' course, five years ago. So, here I am with a handicap of 25 and your Club Captain!
I will be sending out regular emails to keep everyone up to date and informed of what is happening in and around our club.
The committee members this year are:
Gaynor Ruawai, Sharon Boxall, Linda Hill & Nicki Williams with Celina Turner as Vice Club Captain, Sharon Atkins as Secretary and myself as Club Captain.
Running now (between closing & opening days, Dec/Jan) there is a stableford competition, open to all Ladies called "Zilah Walker Summer Salver". The rules are attached and I encourage you all to participate. If you have a good round, just write your name, date & stableford score on a piece of paper and place it in the box provided downstairs in the locker/change rooms.
In this downstairs room there are three noticeboards. The main one is where we put up our club ladies notices, draws, entry sheets etc. Currently on this board is a notice asking for names of those wanting to play pennants in 2026. I know it seems early, but some start dates are early February so we need to get teams sorted.
One other noticeboard has posters for other clubs tournaments, and the third board has an area where events etc unrelated to golf can be placed, PLUS during the season our 'Birdie board' is in this area. When you get a birdie on a club day, you can add your name to the list, there is a trophy for this at the end of the year.
Over summer our Ladies days are Wednesday 9am, Saturday 8.30am and 12.18pm You are all welcome to join in any of these days, no matter what your handicap is. It would be great to see some of our new members joining in on these days.
If anyone has any questions, requires clarification or help with anything please don't hesitate to contact myself, any committee member or ask any one of the Golf Shop staff.
Don't forget to get your name up on the list downstairs ASAP if you wish to play pennants in 2026.
Enough from me for now, other than wishing you all a safe and happy festive season. Merry Christmas and a Happy New year.
Jill Shirkey
Ladies Club Captain.
